Zao Okama
The crater lake "Okama" on the Zao Mountain Range. Its mystical lake surface shining in emerald green is also called Goshikinuma (Five-Color Lake).
The crater lake "Okama" located near the highest peak of the Zao Mountain Range is a circular lake with a diameter of approximately 330 meters. It is also called Goshikinuma (Five-Color Lake) because its color changes from emerald green to cobalt blue depending on the angle of sunlight and the season. Using the Zao Echo Line and Zao Skyline, you can access the observation deck in just a few minutes' walk from the parking lot. The view from an elevation of approximately 1,670 meters is spectacular, and on clear days you can even see the Pacific Ocean. The road is closed in winter, so access is possible only from late April to early November.
