Yokohama Sankeien
A vast Japanese garden designed by Hara Sankei, a Yokohama businessman. Historic structures relocated from Kyoto and Kamakura are scattered throughout.
A garden created by Hara Sankei, who made his fortune in the silk-reeling industry from the Meiji through Taisho eras, using his personal funds. On a site of approximately 175,000 square meters, 17 historic structures are arranged, including 10 Important Cultural Properties relocated from Kyoto and Kamakura. The landscape of the large pond, where a three-story pagoda is reflected, is particularly beautiful and popular with photography enthusiasts. Throughout the seasons, flowers can be enjoyed—plums, cherry blossoms, lotus, and autumn leaves. This is a hidden gem where, despite being in central Yokohama, you can savor the beauty of Japan surrounded by tranquility.
