Ube City in Yamaguchi Prefecture is known as 'Sculpture Town,' with outdoor sculptures installed throughout the city centered around Tokiwa Park. The UBE Biennale (Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition) is a historic international sculpture exhibition that has continued since 1961, with award-winning works permanently displayed in Tokiwa Park. Encountering works by artists from around the world while strolling through the lush green park is an experience unique to Ube. The contrast between the landscape along Tokiwa Lake and the sculptures is also a beautiful spot.
