Experience 500 years of traditional rural kabuki and Noh in the mountain village of Asahi Town
Every August, the Wind God Festival is held in the Otani District of Asahi Town, where local residents dedicate rural kabuki performances. This performing art, which has a history of over 500 years, has been continuously performed by villagers during agricultural off-seasons, and its simple yet powerful performances are truly worth seeing. Before the festival, workshop programs are also available to learn kabuki movements and techniques.
