Mount Tsukuba is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, consisting of twin peaks: Nantai-san (871m) and Nyotai-san (877m). Despite its low elevation, it's popular for its unique hiking trails dotted with strange rocks and boulders. With cable cars and ropeways available, you can choose courses according to your fitness level. From the summit, you can overlook the entire Kanto Plain, and on clear days, you can see Tokyo Skytree and Mount Fuji. There are many highlights including "Gama-ishi" (Toad Rock) and "Benkei Nanamodori" (Benkei's Seven Returns). The course from Tsutsuji-ga-oka is reassuring even for beginners.
