The Tsukuba Experimental Botanical Garden, located in Tsukuba, is a plant research facility operated by the National Museum of Nature and Science and is open to the public. Across approximately 140,000 m² of expansive grounds, areas reproducing the vegetation of various regions of Japan spread out, where you can observe approximately 3,000 species of plants. The greenhouse also displays plants from savannas and tropical rainforests with plenty to see. The autumn 'Mushroom Exhibition' is an extremely popular annual event that draws attention with its display of rare specimens. Guided tours by researchers are also held occasionally.
