Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition

The Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition is one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals held annually in October. It's a competitive event where fireworks artisans from across the nation compete in technique and artistry, with approximately 20,000 fireworks illuminating the night sky along the Sakuragawa riverbank. There are category-based judging for starmine, 10-gou shells, creative fireworks, and other divisions, and the fireworks that showcase the pinnacle of technical craftsmanship offer an intensity that sets them apart from typical fireworks displays. Since it's held in autumn when the air is clear, the fireworks can be seen vividly. Reserving paid viewing seats is recommended.
