Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival
About 3,000 azalea bushes of 100 varieties bloom magnificently in the grounds of Nezu Shrine. The collaboration of the thousand torii gates and azaleas is beautiful.
Nezu Shrine is an ancient shrine with over 1,900 years of history, hosting the "Azalea Festival" annually from mid-April to early May. In the shrine's azalea garden, approximately 3,000 bushes of 100 varieties of azaleas bloom across the hillside, offering flowers to enjoy for about a month from early to late-blooming varieties. The azaleas blooming against the backdrop of the Important Cultural Property shrine buildings and red thousand torii gates make this one of Tokyo's premier photo spots. It's a standard course to combine this with exploring Yanesen (Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi).
