Walking Along the Toden Arakawa Line
Explore the downtown area on Tokyo's last streetcar. Spring and autumn are especially recommended for this retro journey when roses bloom along the line.
The Toden Arakawa Line (Tokyo Sakura Tram) is Tokyo's only streetcar, running approximately 12km from Minowabashi to Waseda. Along the line are numerous attractions including Asukayama Park, Sugamo Jizo-dori, and Zoshigaya Kishimojin. Spring and autumn are particularly special as the rose season, when about 13,000 rose plants of 140 varieties bloom magnificently along the tracks around Arakawa Depot. With a one-day ticket (400 yen), you can enjoy a journey of discovering the charms of downtown Tokyo while riding the retro cars and stopping off at various stations along the way.
