Sulfur Mountain Smoke Walk

Atosanupuri (Sulfur Mountain) in Teshikaga Town is a rare active volcano where you can access fumaroles immediately from the parking lot. Steam roars from vents covered in yellow sulfur crystals, allowing you to feel the earth's internal energy. The shop sells hot spring eggs steamed with fumarole vapor—eating them amid the sulfur aroma is a local specialty. It's a classic spot for eastern Hokkaido sightseeing, often paired with Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo.
