The phantom arch bridge sinking into the lake - Taushubetsu River Bridge
The Taushubetsu River Bridge is a concrete arch bridge from the former JNR Shihoro Line that spans Lake Nukabira. Due to the dam's water level fluctuations, it changes its appearance with the seasons - its full form appears around January, while in summer it sinks to the lake bottom, earning it the name "phantom bridge." Its reflection on the water surface is also called "megane-bashi" (spectacles bridge), and its fleeting beauty as it gradually deteriorates attracts photography enthusiasts. Viewing through guided tours is recommended.
