The Oka Castle Ruins that inspired Rentaro Taki's masterpiece 'Koujou no Tsuki'. Magnificent stone walls remain on the cliff face, creating beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons.
Oka Castle Ruins is a mountain castle built on a cliff at an elevation of 325 meters, known as the model for Rentaro Taki's acclaimed composition 'Koujou no Tsuki'. Spectacular views unfold with magnificent layered stone walls remaining, also called the 'castle in the sky'. The site is famous as a cherry blossom viewing destination, with approximately 500 Somei Yoshino cherry trees adorning the stone walls in spring—a particularly stunning sight. The autumn foliage is equally beautiful, making it a spot where visitors can experience both history and nature. Taketa City is also known as a town of natural spring water, and you can enjoy strolling through the castle town as well.
