Shuri Castle Park
Shuri Castle, which prospered as the royal palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The vermillion main hall undergoing reconstruction and the world heritage castle walls are must-see destinations for Okinawa tourism.
Shuri Castle is a royal palace that served as the political and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom for about 450 years from the 15th century and is registered as a World Heritage site. The main hall was lost in a fire in 2019, but reconstruction work is currently underway, and the 'visible reconstruction' where you can observe the process has become a topic of interest. Many cultural heritage sites such as Shureimon Gate and Sonohyan Utaki Stone Gate that escaped the fire are also worth seeing, and from the castle walls, stunning views of Naha city and the East China Sea spread out. It is a must-visit tourist spot in Okinawa that conveys the history and culture of the Ryukyu Kingdom to the present day.
