Shimanto River
The Shimanto River, called 'Japan's Last Clear Stream.' Its majestic flow with submersible bridges is a famous destination for canoeing and river activities.
The 196 km-long Shimanto River has no dams on its main stream and is known as 'Japan's Last Clear Stream.' Forty-seven submersible bridges without railings span along the river, creating a unique landscape. The highly transparent clear stream offers opportunities for canoeing, SUP, and river activities, and natural sweetfish fishing season opens in early summer. Sightseeing tours by houseboat are also popular, and the views of lush green mountains and clear water from the river surface are exceptional. Local delicacies like wild eel and aonori from the Shimanto River are also appealing attractions.
Access
