Kaizu-Osaka Cherry Blossom Tree-lined Shore of Lake Biwa
The 800 cherry blossom trees stretching for about 4km along the northern shore of Lake Biwa make it one of Shiga's premier cherry blossom viewing destinations
Kaizu-Osaka is Shiga Prefecture's most celebrated cherry blossom destination, with 800 Somei Yoshino trees blooming in splendor for about 4km along the northern shore of Lake Biwa. It has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots. The contrast between Lake Biwa's crystalline waters and the fully blooming cherry blossoms creates a spectacular sight, and cruises to enjoy the flowers from the water are also popular. The blooming period is slightly later than Kyoto, with mid-April being the best viewing time.
