A winter tradition of Sendai. A fantastical space where approximately 600,000 illuminated lights adorn the zelkova trees lining Jozenji-dori Street.
Held annually in December, the 'SENDAI Light Pageant' illuminates approximately 160 zelkova trees lining Jozenji-dori Street in Sendai City with about 600,000 LED lights. The sight of the entire street bathed in golden light reflects the unique beauty of Sendai, known as the 'City of Trees.' The synchronized light-off and light-on performance called 'Starlight Wink' is particularly romantic. Related events and food booths are set up in Kotodai Park, bringing warmth to the cold winter nights.
