Omiya Hikawa Shrine

Hikawa Shrine is a prestigious shrine with over 2,400 years of history as the Ichinomiya of Musashi Province. Its approximately 2km approach path is said to be the longest in Japan and is beloved by locals as a walking path shaded by large zelkova and camphor trees. The shrine enshrines Susanoo-no-Mikoto as its main deity and is known for its blessings of protection from evil and matchmaking. The sacred pond in the grounds features a floating Benten shrine, and there are shops selling Hikawa dango. It is Saitama Prefecture's largest shrine, attracting over 2 million worshippers for New Year's hatsumode. The Toka-ichi kumade market is also lively.
