Otaru Canal
A tourist attraction featuring nostalgic scenery woven together by retro stone warehouses and a canal.
Otaru Canal is a canal that was completed in 1923 with a total length of 1,140 meters, and is a representative tourist spot of Hokkaido. Along the canal, rows of stone warehouses built from the Meiji to Taisho periods stand, and are currently utilized as restaurants, glass workshops, and souvenir shops. At dusk, gas lamps light up, enveloping the area in a fantastical atmosphere. In winter, 'Otaru Snow Light Path' is held, and the sight of candlelight illuminating the canal is spectacular. Walking paths are also well-maintained, and you can enjoy the beauty of each season.
