Tenma Tenjin Matsuri
Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan's three great festivals. A grand festival where boat processions and fireworks offerings color the summer Okawa River
Held annually on July 24th and 25th, Tenjin Matsuri is one of Japan's three great festivals centered around Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. The highlight on the main festival day of the 25th is the boat procession where approximately 100 boats traverse the Okawa River, with the fleet illuminated by bonfire lights creating a fantastical sight. At the climax, the fireworks offering features about 5,000 fireworks painting the night sky, and the scene reflected on the river surface is a quintessential summer tradition of Osaka. With around 3,000 food stalls setting up shop, you can fully enjoy the lively festival atmosphere.
