Bizen Pottery Hand-Building Ceramic Experience
Enjoy an authentic pottery experience at a kiln of Bizen pottery, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns.
Bizen pottery is a traditional craft known for its unique texture created by firing at high temperatures for long periods without using glaze. At kilns in the Inbe district of Bizen City, visitors can experience hand-building pottery under the guidance of craftsmen. The process of kneading clay, working the potter's wheel, and creating your own unique vessel offers an absorbing and enjoyable experience. While it takes about two months for the firing to complete, the finished piece will be delivered to your home. A visit to the Bizen Pottery Museum is also recommended.
