Beppu Hot Spring Dyeing Experience

Beppu's hot springs are rich in iron and minerals, and the "hot spring dyeing" that utilizes these is a unique experience only available in Beppu. Using mud from Myoban Onsen and hot spring water from Kannawa as dyes, you can dye handkerchiefs and scarves. The mineral content of the hot springs creates subtly different colors, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that are never exactly the same. The process takes about 1 hour to complete, and you can take your creation home on the spot.
