The magnificent Vairocana Buddha enshrined in the Great Buddha Hall, one of the world's largest wooden structures
Todaiji is the head temple of the Kegon sect built by Emperor Shomu during the Nara period, and is registered as a World Heritage Site. The Great Buddha Hall is one of the world's largest wooden structures, and the sight of the approximately 15-meter-tall Vairocana Buddha (Great Buddha) enshrined within is breathtaking. The Nio guardian statues at the Nandaimon Gate are also one of the highlights. In the surrounding area, you can also enjoy interacting with the friendly deer.
