Stone Steps and Five-Tiered Pagoda of Murō-ji

Murō-ji is known as the 'Women's Kōya,' a temple that remained open to women even during the era when Kōya-san prohibited female visitors. The stone steps that climb through the cedar forest are moss-covered and enveloped in an ethereal atmosphere, while outside stands Japan's smallest five-tiered pagoda (National Treasure) in majestic stillness. The rhododendrons in spring and autumn leaves are also magnificent, and its charm lies in its harmony with the deep mountain scenery.
