The Katsuragi Ancient Road that spreads through Gose City in Nara Prefecture is a historic route also called Japan's oldest official road. The route that winds through the foothills of Katsuragi-san allows you to explore beautiful terraced rice field landscapes and visit ancient shrines such as Hitokotonushi Shrine and Takakamo Shrine that have existed since ancient times. In spring, cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers color the path, while in autumn, cluster amaryllis blooms along the way. The approximately 10km course features gentle ups and downs, making it safe for beginners. You can also purchase fresh vegetables at local farm stands.
