Ōshū City Mizusawa is a major production area of Nanbu ironware and a casting town with over 900 years of history. At the Mizusawa Casting Museum, you can learn about the history and manufacturing process of Nanbu ironware. At workshops scattered throughout the city, you can witness up close the powerful work of craftsmen pouring molten iron into sand molds. In recent years, Nanbu ironware has become popular overseas, with growing attention to its evolution, including modern design iron kettles and colorful teapots. At workshop direct sales shops, you can purchase at prices more affordable than market rates, discovering lifetime treasures whose charm deepens with use.
