Nagatoro Autumn Foliage River Rafting

Nagatoro's river rafting is approximately a 3km course down the Arakawa River around the Iwadatami rock formations on traditional Japanese boats. Especially in autumn, the foliage on both banks reflects on the water surface, creating a fantastical scenery as if passing through tunnels of red and yellow. The boatman's witty commentary is entertaining, and the pleasant contrast between thrilling rapids and calm waters is delightful. Mid to late November is the peak season for autumn foliage, and the illumination at Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park is also spectacular. After disembarking, it's customary to enjoy Nagatoro's specialty - pork miso rice bowl.
