Ueda Castle Ruins and Sanada District Walking Tour
Experience the romance of the Sengoku period on a historical walk through Ueda Castle Ruins Park, where Sanada Yukimura's legacy lives on
Ueda Castle was founded by Sanada Masayuki and repelled the Tokugawa forces on two occasions, earning its reputation as an impregnable fortress. The castle ruins park preserves the Sanada Stone and West Tower, while Sanada Shrine is renowned for its popular Six Sen amulets. The Ueda Municipal Museum showcases armor and historical documents of the Sanada clan. In spring, thousands of cherry blossoms bloom beautifully; in autumn, the colorful foliage and zelkova tree-lined avenue create a scenic landscape. Combined with a stroll down Yanagimachi Street, which retains the atmosphere of the old castle town, you can fully experience the area's rich history.
