Pearl Accessory Making in Toba

Toba is the place where Mikimoto Kokichi succeeded in the world's first pearl cultivation. At the experience facility, you can open Akoya oysters yourself, extract the pearls, and craft them into necklaces and straps. What kind of pearls will come out is a pleasant surprise—you might even get large ones. It's a uniquely Ise-Shima experience where you can also learn about the history of pearls and the cultivation process.
