Byodoin Phoenix Hall in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a World Heritage site familiar from the design of the 10-yen coin. The Phoenix Hall reflected in Aji Pond, which represents the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, has continued to captivate people for over 1,000 years. At the Hoshokan Museum, you can view the national treasure Unchu Kuyo Bosatsu statues up close. The walking path along the Uji River is also a place connected to Murasaki Shikibu, where you can immerse yourself in the world of The Tale of Genji. Famous Uji tea shops line the approach, and strolling through the town while enjoying matcha sweets is also popular.
