Kyoto, Kyoto
A representative World Heritage site of Kyoto where a pavilion covered in gold leaf reflects in a pond
Kinkaku-ji is a symbol of Kitayama culture built by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, and its official name is Rokuon-ji. The sight of the gold leaf-covered Shariden reflecting in Kyoko-chi pond is breathtakingly beautiful. Registered as a World Heritage site, it shows different expressions throughout the four seasons. The winter snow scenery is especially popular as a rare spectacular view.
