Fushimi's Teradaya and Sake Brewery Street
A historical walk exploring Teradaya, associated with Sakamoto Ryoma, and Fushimi's sake brewery street
Kyoto's Fushimi is known as a place associated with Sakamoto Ryoma, and at Teradaya you can visit the room where Ryoma was attacked. Along the sake brewery street, long-established breweries like Gekkeikan and Kizakura line up, where you can enjoy sake tasting and brewery tours. The willow-lined Hori River has a charming atmosphere, and taking a Jikkokubune boat to view the brewery scenery from the water is also recommended. Fushimi's spring water has been selected as one of Japan's 100 famous waters, and this water has nurtured Fushimi's sake. This is an area where you can enjoy history and Japanese sake culture simultaneously.
