Kitayamazaki Cliff Cruise

Kitayamazaki is the most renowned scenic spot on the Sanriku Coast, featuring precipitous cliffs reaching up to 200 meters high stretching continuously for approximately 8 kilometers. While the view from the observation deck is also spectacular, the recommendation is a sightseeing cruise in a Sappa boat, viewing the cliffs from the sea. In a small boat operated by local fishermen, you navigate between the rocks and can experience unusual rock formations and sea caves up close. The thrilling approximately 50-minute voyage, bathed in sea spray, offers an intensity completely different from the land-based experience. In spring, you can also witness large flocks of black-tailed gulls nesting on the cliffs, leaving you overwhelmed by the natural vitality.
