Kasama Inari Shrine
One of Japan's three major Inari shrines. A leading power spot in Ibaraki with more than 3.5 million visitors annually.
A historic Inari shrine said to have been founded in 651, it is one of Japan's three major Inari shrines alongside Fushimi Inari in Kyoto and Yutoku Inari in Saga. Known for its blessings of business prosperity and abundant harvests, more than 3.5 million pilgrims visit annually. The intricate carvings on the main hall are a must-see, particularly the transom carved with orchid flowers, which has high artistic value. The wisteria trellises and chrysanthemum festival in the grounds are also worth visiting. The approach street is lined with famous inari sushi shops that are fun to compare and taste. You may want to visit it together with a tour of Kasama ware kilns.
