Hiratsuka Tanabata Festival
One of Japan's three major Tanabata festivals. A summer tradition where gorgeous and magnificent Tanabata decorations fill the arcade.
The Shonan Hiratsuka Tanabata Festival is one of Japan's three major Tanabata festivals held every July. Luxurious Tanabata decorations over 10 meters tall are hung in the shopping arcade that extends from the north exit of JR Hiratsuka Station, creating a spectacular display of beauty. The decorations incorporate current events and popular characters, offering new themes to enjoy each year. During the festival period, approximately 3 million visitors come, and about 500 food stalls set up shop. The wish card corner dedicated to Orihime and Hikoboshi is also popular.
