The Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots is a peace memorial facility built in Chiran, where a kamikaze base was located during the final stage of the Pacific War. The museum displays photographs, final letters, and personal belongings of 1,036 kamikaze pilots, allowing visitors to connect with the thoughts and feelings of these young airmen. The adjacent Chiran Samurai Residence Gardens offer a glimpse into Satsuma warrior culture with beautiful stone walls and hedges. This is a place to learn about the preciousness of peace.
