Zentsuji Temple, located in Zentsuji City, Kagawa Prefecture, is the head temple of the Shingon Zentsuji sect, built at the birthplace of Kobo Daishi Kukai. Known as the 75th temple of the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage, it is counted as one of the three major sacred sites of Kobo Daishi along with Koyasan and Toji Temple. The temple grounds are divided into the East and West precincts, with magnificent temple buildings spreading out including a towering five-story pagoda. Particularly popular is the "Kaidan-meguri" experience, where visitors navigate approximately 100 meters through complete darkness beneath Miedo Hall by touch alone - a mystical moment to feel a spiritual connection with Kukai.
