Shodoshima in Kagawa Prefecture is known as the place where olive cultivation first succeeded in Japan. During the autumn harvest season, you can enjoy the experience of hand-picking olives at olive farms. Through the careful work of picking each olive one by one, you can learn about the depth of olive cultivation. The harvested olives are pressed on-site, allowing you to taste freshly made extra virgin oil. The aroma and peppery bite of fresh oil offers a taste that is in a class of its own compared to commercial products. At the farm's terrace, you can also enjoy light meals prepared with olive oil while taking in Shodoshima's Mediterranean-like scenery.
