Four Seasons of Mōtsū-ji Pure Land Garden

Mōtsū-ji is one of the component assets of the Hiraizumi World Heritage site. The Pure Land garden centered around Ōizumi Pond almost perfectly preserves its appearance from the Heian period. The beauty of each season—May's Flowing Water Banquet, June's iris festival, and autumn's crimson foliage—creates a breathtaking landscape reflected in the pond. The Ennen Dance performed at Jōgyōdō is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
