Noto Agebama Traditional Salt-Making Tour
Watch demonstrations of agebama salt-making, Japan's only remaining traditional method, at the tip of the Noto Peninsula
In Suzu City, the traditional agebama salt-making method, passed down for approximately 500 years, continues to this day. The technique of spreading seawater onto salt fields and crystallizing it through sun and wind is a precious technology found nowhere else in Japan—only in Suzu. At the salt field demonstration, you will be captivated by the skilled movements of craftspeople. At the adjacent direct sales shop, you can also enjoy salt soft ice cream and salt rice balls made with Noto salt.
