Bird Watching at Ishikari Hama

The coastal and wetland areas from the mouth of the Ishikari River to Hamamasu are one of Hokkaido's finest bird watching spots. White-tailed Eagles and Steller's Sea Eagles visit in winter, and many sandpipers and plovers can be observed during the spring and autumn migration periods. Hamanasu no Oka Park features a nature observation house and binoculars for rent. Located just 40 minutes by car from Sapporo, it's easy to access and even beginners can casually start bird watching.
