Onuma Quasi-National Park
Beautiful scenery of Onuma and Konuma with Komagatake in the background. Cycling and boating are popular.
Onuma Quasi-National Park is located approximately 30 minutes by car from Hakodate and is a natural park centered on three lakes—Onuma, Konuma, and Jurinae Lake—spread across the foot of Hokkaido's active volcano, Komagatake. The landscape of Onuma with its 126 floating islands and Komagatake has been selected as one of Japan's New Three Scenic Wonders, and Komagatake reflected in the lake surface has a beauty like a postcard. A cycling road is well-maintained, with the approximately 14-km course around the lake being popular. Boating, canoeing, and in winter, smelt fishing and snowmobiling, among other seasonal activities can be enjoyed.
