Onomichi is known as a town of slopes, temples, and cats. Halfway up Senkoji-yama, there is a narrow alley called "Cat Alley." Blessed stone cats painted by artist Sonoyama Haruji are placed here and there, and real cats also freely roam this healing spot. As you climb the steep stone steps and narrow alley, turning around reveals a spectacular view of Onomichi Strait and Mukaishima. An irresistible sacred place for cat lovers, with shops and cafés scattered throughout that sell cat merchandise.
