Gosogawara Tachineputa
The Gosogawara Tachineputa, with its colossal 23-meter-tall float dominating the night sky, is another major summer festival in Aomori
The Gosogawara Tachineputa is a spectacular summer festival where giant floats reaching 23 meters in height and weighing 19 tons parade through the streets. The Tachineputa, which ceased during the Meiji era, was revived in 1998, and is characterized by its distinctive vertical and elongated design that sets it apart from the Aomori Nebuta. Held annually from August 4-8, the sight of these floats advancing through the night sky accompanied by the shouts of "Yatte Mare" is breathtaking. Even outside the festival period, you can see full-size Tachineputa floats up close at the Tachineputa-kan museum, which also features extensive exhibits about the production process.
