The Suganuma settlement in Gokayama is a gassho-style village registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site alongside Shirakawa-go. Compared to Shirakawa-go, it attracts fewer tourists and offers a peaceful, unspoiled mountain village atmosphere. Nine gassho-style farmhouses remain standing, and visitors can learn about the local history and culture at the Shiosho Museum and the Gokayama Folk Museum.
