Kawabata Shopping Street and Hakata Traditional Crafts

Kawabata Shopping Street is Hakata's most historic arcade shopping street, stretching approximately 400 meters from Hakata-za theater to Canal City with about 130 shops lined along the way. There are specialty stores for traditional crafts such as Hakata-ori textiles, Hakata dolls, and Hakata bentwood products, where you can watch craftsmen at work up close while making purchases. The area is also well-stocked with Hakata specialties like spicy mentaiko (cod roe) and Chikushi mochi for souvenirs.
