Enoshima
Symbol of Shonan, Enoshima. Spectacular views of Mount Fuji and Sagami Bay from Enoshima Shrine, Iwaya Cave, and the observation lighthouse.
A small island with a circumference of about 4 km floating in Sagami Bay. Enoshima Shrine, which enshrines Benzaiten, is known as a power spot for romantic relationships, and the pilgrimage route visiting the three shrines of Hetsunomiya, Nakatsunomiya, and Okutsuomiya is full of highlights. From Sea Candle (observation lighthouse), you can see expansive panoramic views of Mount Fuji and the Izu Peninsula. Iwaya Cave, located on the back side of the island, is a mysterious space formed by wave erosion. The island also features specialty cuisine such as shirasu donburi and tako senbei. In summer it bustles with swimmers, and the winter illuminations are also beautiful.
