Aomori Kogin Embroidery Craft
Beautiful geometric patterned goods and accessories featuring Tsugaru's traditional Kogin embroidery
Kogin embroidery is a traditional stitching technique that has been passed down in the Tsugaru region since the Edo period, characterized by geometrically beautiful patterns. In craft shops and galleries throughout Hirosaki City, various items featuring Kogin embroidery such as pouches, book covers, coasters, and earrings are sold. In recent years, young artists have increasingly incorporated modern designs into their works, drawing attention to new Kogin embroidery that fuses tradition and modernity. The Hirosaki Kogin Research Institute also holds workshops where visitors can create their own original works.
