A unique experience walking across a 780-meter submarine tunnel connecting Honshu and Kyushu
The Kanmon Tunnel Pedestrian Walkway connects Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi Prefecture) and Moji (Fukuoka Prefecture) as a 780-meter underwater pedestrian tunnel. You can walk across approximately 58 meters below sea level in about 15 minutes, with a line marking the prefectural border drawn down the center. Free passage is available 24 hours a day. Both shores are filled with tourist attractions including retro Moji Port and Karato Market, perfect for an enjoyable round-trip walk.
