A scenic hike up Tengu Mountain from Iidai Town at the base of the Iidai Mountain Range

Tengu Mountain, easily accessible from Iidai Town in Yamagata Prefecture, is a scenic viewpoint where you can take in the majestic Iidai Mountain Range at a glance despite its low elevation. You can reach the summit in about 2 hours of hiking, where a panorama of the snow-capped Iidai Mountains and the Okitama Basin spreads before you. Tours led by local mountain guides explaining seasonal flowers and mountain history are also popular.
