Nachi Falls is Japan's tallest straight waterfall at a 133m drop and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.' From Hiryuzu Shrine, where you can descend near the waterfall basin, you can experience the powerful water volume and waterfall spray up close. The viewpoint where the vermillion three-story pagoda (Seigantoji Temple) and Nachi Falls can be seen simultaneously is known worldwide as a landscape symbolizing Japan. Trekking the pilgrimage route from Kumano Kodo's Daimon-zaka is also recommended.
